Importing SBOM Data from KISS or CSV Files
Supported File Formats
ROMAC supports the following import types:
- KISS files (.KSS): Standard export format from detailing software
- CSV files (.CSV): Spreadsheet-style files with columns mapped to SBOM fields
Both formats can be imported directly into a project and matched to drawing-level entries.
Preparing for Import
Before importing:
- Create a project and open it
- Ensure SBOM drawings are created (use placeholder numbers if needed)
- Ensure shape codes in the import file match ROMAC standards
- For CSV, verify column headers and format are correct
KISS files must use recognized shape and spec formats. Contact ROMAC support for templates if needed.
Importing a KISS File
To import a KISS file:
- Open the target project
- Go to Tools > Import > KISS Import
- Browse and select the
.KSS
file - Map fields as prompted
- Confirm import
ROMAC will populate the SBOM based on recognized data fields. Invalid or unmatched lines will be flagged.
Importing a CSV File
To import a CSV file:
- Open the target project
- Go to Tools > Import > CSV Import
- Choose the file
- Map columns to the following fields:
- Quantity
- Piece Mark
- Description
- Length
- Spec
- Wt. Unit
- Remarks (optional)
- Confirm import and validate SBOM lines
You may need to edit lines after import to finalize drawing metadata or add missing values.
Troubleshooting Import Errors
If errors occur:
- Check shape codes and formatting
- Confirm unit settings (inches vs. feet)
- Validate drawing numbers before re-importing
Unmatched entries will be flagged and skipped during processing.
