Creating and Managing Shop Cutting Batches
What Is a Cutting Batch?
A cutting batch is a group of selected SBOM items compiled into a list for processing by the Nesting module.
Each batch includes:
- A unique batch number (1–9999)
- Material pulled from one or more drawings or preload lists
- Filters by shape, spec, or sequence
Cutting batches allow you to:
- Organize shop work by priority
- Group materials by machine or shift
- Control nesting and remnant return
Accessing the Cutting List Module
To begin:
- Go to Home > Tools > Shop Cutting List
Creating a New Cutting Batch
- Click Create New Cutting List
- Enter a Batch Number
- Select materials by:
- Drawing numbers
- Preload lists
- Apply filters:
- Main or secondary material
- Shape code(s)
- Specification
- Sequence (if used)
- Click Generate to create the batch
Only materials marked “Released for Fab” will be included.
Editing and Managing Batches
After creation, you can:
- Add or remove drawings
- Replace or supplement preload sources
- Edit or delete the batch (if not yet nested)
Use Tools > Edit Report Groupings to:
- Assign group codes for sorting
- Configure pattern codes for nesting
- Enable barcode or nesting ID fields (if Inventory Control is active)
Deleting a Batch
You can delete a cutting batch only if:
- No nesting has been saved under the batch number
- The batch is not referenced in active cutting reports
To delete:
- Select the batch
- Click Delete Batch
- Confirm removal
